National : ‘World Environment Day’, is the United Nations day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment. To promote a clean and green world 75000 trees were planted by the Postal Staff throughout the country today. In this regard West Bengal Postal Circle has planted 4000 trees at different locations in this Circle.
A Special Cover was also released on 5th June 2022, by Ms.J. Charukesi, Chief PMG, WB Circle, at Yogayog Bhawan , Kolkata to commemorate the event.
Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and held annually on 5th June , ‘World Environment Day’, is the largest global platform for environmental public outreach and is celebrated by millions of people across the world. This year it is being hosted by Sweden.
“Only One Earth” was the slogan for the first United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, held in Stockholm in 1972. This put sustainable development on the global agenda and led to the establishment of World Environment Day.
