On the solemn occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, a poignant wreath-laying ceremony was held at Vijay Smarak, Fort William, Kolkata, to honor the valiant soldiers who fought and sacrificed their lives during the Kargil War. The ceremony was marked by the presence of Lt Gen Ram Chander Tiwari, UYSM, AVSM, SM, GOC-in-C Eastern Command, along with other esteemed dignitaries, military personnel, and veterans, all united in their homage to the indomitable spirit of our armed forces.

Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed annually on 26th July, commemorates the resounding victory of the Indian Armed Forces over infiltrating Pakistani troops during the 1999 Kargil conflict. This arduous conflict, fought in the unforgiving terrain of Kargil, underscored the unparalleled bravery, unwavering dedication, and profound patriotism of our soldiers who defended the nation's sovereignty and integrity with supreme valor.

The wreath-laying ceremony at Fort William served as a heartfelt tribute to the heroism of the soldiers who vanquished the enemy with extraordinary courage, despite severe conditions and overwhelming odds.
