Kolkata : SVF in association with 6 Ballygunge Place hosted an exquisite event yesterday for its upcoming film ‘The Eken’ releasing on 14th April. The ensemble cast comprising of the beloved Eken Babu aka Anirban Chakrabarti, with his two favourite companions Bappaditya played by Suhotra Mukhopadhyay and Pramatha played by the very popular RJ Somak Ghosh, Paayel Sarkar and Debasish Mondal along with Director Joydeep Mukherjee and the scriptwriter Padmanabha Dasgupta, were present at the event yesterday. They shared their experience of making the film and taking the ‘Maachey Bhaatey’ Bengali Detective to the big screens.
Excited about coming with the character of Eken Babu on the big screens, Anirban Chakrabarti said, “From all the characters which I have played on screen, the character of Eken Babu is one of my favourites and we are really excited about the fact that Eken Babu is coming on the big screens with ‘The Eken’. I hope that the audience will show the same love for the movie which they have showed for the series.”
The very talented RJ Somak who plays the character of Pramatha says, “I am excited to take this new step in my journey with SVF. The encouragement which I received throughout the film during each and every shot was just impeccable. I am extremely happy for the opportunity and cannot wait for the audience to experience the adventure of ‘The Eken’ in theatres, during the Poila Boisakh phase".
Based on the story of Sujan Dasgupta, the script and the dialogues for the movie is written by Padmanabha Dasgupta. The title track of ‘The Eken’ has already garnered a very good response from the audience which is sang by youth favourite Sidhu and the music of the movie is composed by Aamlaann Chakraabarty.
Exhilarated about the release, the director of the film, Joydeep Mukherjee says “After garnering tremendous response on the OTT platform for Eken Babu, we are excited to see how ‘The Eken’ shapes up on the big screens. This time the facts revolving around the case will make Eken Babu question all the people around him including his partners Bapi and Pramatha. A huge amount of credit for the mysterious turns in the movie goes to our writer Padmanabha Dasgupta and I can ensure one thing that the twists in the movie will keep the audience on the edge of their seat. The Eken is a dynamic mystery-thriller where Eken Babu gets involved in a chaotic situation where he meets with the famous film star Bipasha Mitra and gets an offer to investigate a case that takes a gruesome turn when a murder takes place in the hills. The trailer of ‘The Eken’ has already garnered positive response and it is all set to release on 14th April.
