Kolkata : A mother is so precious to her child that she holds a place of reverence even above the divine. Acropolis Mall salutes the spirit of motherhood and celebrated the occasion with a weeklong contest, which culminated today in a very special celebration. The mall, celebrated the magic of motherhood today in the esteemed presence of acclaimed actress par excellence Smt. Mamata Shankar and her son, percussionist , music director and actor Ratul Shankar. Actress Konineeka Banerjee also graced the occasion with her lovely daughter.
Acropolis Mall launched an online contest celebrating the all-knowing intuition of mothers, where sons and daughters sent selfies with their mothers and opened their hearts to share what makes their mom truly the best. The top three winners namely Jayanti Mitra, Ishita Das and Mohini Das were selected. The mall also hosted a talent showcase where mother-daughter duos namely Shreya Chatterjee/Arshiya Chatterjee , Kahini Bhattacharya /Mrittika Tribedi , Nandita Mukherjee/Shanya Mukherjee, Maitri Pramanik/Snajhbati Pramanik, Debjani Chakraborty/Adrija Jana, Surupa Mondal Adhikary /Sridatta Mondal , Nivedita Shah/Ahya Shah, Tuktuki Dutta/Sutrina Dutta displayed their talents in music, dance, and recitation. Guests witnessed a live talent show featuring beautiful performances — singing, dancing, poetry, and more — proving that love and talent often run in the family.
At a formal function, legendary actress Mamata Shankar and her son Ratul Shankar, a percussionist, presented prizes to the top three mothers and daughters. Actress Konineeka Banerjee also felicitated the top-performing mother-son and mother-daughter pairs.
The celebration also included a host of engaging activities conducted by the emcee for the mother-son and mother-daughter duos. The celebration followed by a special Mother’s Day cake-cutting ceremony with all guests and winners. The event further enthralled the audience with a melodious musical soiree.
