Kolkata: The flagship Namami Gange Program integrates the efforts to clean and protect the Ganga River in a comprehensive manner. To implement the project, the Government is focusing on involving people living on the banks of the river to attain sustainable results.  So the local youths are now involved to make the programme successful.

Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan , Kolkata organized a 3 days long workshop on Namami Gange, where youths from Malda, 24 Parganas (South), East Midnapur and Howrah along with State Program Management Group members took part.  The workshop started from 9th May at The Fern Residency in Kolkata.  


The youths got training so that they can be involved into the programme more effectively.  The trainers were Executive Engineer, Water Investigation and Development Section, Sri Subrata  Haldar, Chairman of SIARD Dr. Biswajit Roy Chowdhury, Sri Aloke Kumar Sanyal from West Bengal BioDiversity board, NGO consultant Sri Ratan Basu , Social Worker Smt Kamini Guchhait and Sri Somnath SinhaRoy from Child Fund International Programme .

The State director of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan’s West Bengal and Andaman & Nicobar Smt Nandita Bhattacharjya , State Program Management officer Sri Binay Das and State director of NSS Sri Binay Kumar were present in the programme.
