The Role of Education – An Evening with World Renowned Speaker Swami Parthasarathy

 World-renowned philosopher Swami Parthasarathy enthralled the audience who gathered to witness him speak on the Role of Education on Thursday at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, New Town.

Swami Vivekananda defined Education as the manifestation of the perfection already in man. During his discourse on Thursday Swamiji spoke about the current education system saying that the current education is based only on acquiring information / knowledge laid down by our predecessors. That can develop one’s intelligence which is necessary for a living. But the focus need not be only on the utilitarian value of education. Alongside, the intellect has to be developed. That is the crux of education. The building of the intellect is not at the expense of gaining intelligence. The ways and means of developing the intellect must be introduced along with the provision of gaining intelligence. That should build a better society, a better country, a better world.

“Liberal education, uncontaminated with utilitarian motives, should enable an individual to make the right choice at every juncture of life like course of study, career etc. It will instill core values to control the whims and fancies of a mind. Ignite the spark of creativity in you when you confront real-life situations,” said Swami Parthasarathy.

This life-changing discourse has helped to build a strong foundation for the future of the youth. All participants were provided with the book THE FALL OF THE HUMAN INTELLECT authored by Swami Parthasarathy as a follow-up course material after the talk.
