Kolkata : ACC, one of India's leading cement and building materials companies and part of the diversified Adani Portfolio, through Adani Foundation at ACC Damodar, is creating opportunities for young women from tribal communities to excel in sports through structured coaching, mentorship and competitive exposure.
In many tribal-dominated villages of Purulia, opportunities for women to participate in organised sport remain limited. Through the Adani Foundation Football Academy at ACC Damodar, aspiring women footballers from Beljhupa have received structured coaching and support designed to help them develop their skills, build confidence and compete at higher levels.
The impact of this effort was on full display at the Member of Parliament Cup (MP Cup) Women's Football Tournament 2026, where six teams representing tribal communities competed at the Gumra Football Ground in Santuri. Demonstrating exceptional teamwork, discipline and determination, the Adani Foundation Beljhupa Women's Team progressed to the final and secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Keshorpur to claim the championship title.
Adding to the team's achievement, Payal Murmu was recognised as Woman of the Tournament for her outstanding contribution throughout the competition, reflecting the talent and potential being nurtured through the football academy.
The victory highlights how sustained investment in grassroots sports can create meaningful opportunities for young women from rural and tribal communities. By providing access to professional coaching, competitive platforms and mentorship, Adani Foundation at ACC Damodar is helping aspiring athletes develop leadership skills, pursue excellence and inspire future generations through their achievements.
