Kolkata, India — As the monsoon sets in and July ushers in the spirit of Van Mahotsav, Acropolis Mall is transforming into a vibrant green destination with Van Mahotsav 2026, presented in association with Daali and World Trade Center Salt Lake. While Daali is curating and executing the week-long celebration, World Trade Center Salt Lake joins as the Sustainability Partner, reinforcing the shared vision of creating greener, more conscious urban spaces. Inspired by the enthusiasm of people visiting Acropolis Mall for Vanmahotsav,
Observed from 1st to 7th July, Van Mahotsav — India's National Forest Week, first introduced in 1950 by K.M. Munshi — is a celebration of forests, biodiversity and the urgent need to reconnect with nature. Acropolis Mall has extended the week till 10th July with an aim to create more awareness among people about safeguarding our nature and greenery.

This year, Acropolis Mall is bringing that message alive through an immersive public experience designed to inspire awareness, action and participation. With the theme "Reconnecting People with Nature," the initiative aims to turn a busy urban retail space into a living, breathing green experience. Visitors can explore a specially curated plant showcase featuring foliage, flowering and exotic plants, alongside a series of engaging sustainability-led installations and activities.
One of the key highlights is the Living Forest Lungs Installation — a striking artistic display created using over 700 live indoor vertical garden plants, symbolising the role forests play as the lungs of our planet. Another major attraction is the Living Pledge Tree, where visitors can write their environmental pledges on plantable seed paper using seed pens, turning simple promises into meaningful action.
Families and children participated in forest-themed quizzes and educational activities, with young participants receiving a Junior Forest Guardian Certificate and a Daali goodie bag. Visitors  also tested their knowledge of plants, forests and nature through interactive sustainability quizzes and win plants, while taking home seed paper to continue their green journey beyond the mall.
“Through this initiative, Acropolis Mall, Daali and World Trade Center Salt Lake hope to inspire people to make sustainability part of everyday life — not just as a one-week celebration, but as a lasting commitment. The larger objective is to encourage small but meaningful actions, spark conversations around conservation, and make biophilic living more accessible to urban communities”, said Subhadip Basu, Corporate General Manager, Retail & Hospitality, Merlin Group.
