Payal Paul : HQ Chief Engineer, Shillong Zone, under the aegis of HQ 101 Area and HQ Chief Engineer, Eastern Command, successfully conducted a two-day technical seminar on “Energy Audit & Optimization Strategies” on 16 and 17 January 2026.
The seminar brought together a distinguished gathering of subject matter experts, eminent academicians, industry representatives, and officers from the Military Engineer Services (MES) and various formations under Eastern Command. The forum facilitated in-depth deliberations on practical, innovative, and sustainable approaches to energy management within defence infrastructure.

Key discussions centred on optimizing energy consumption, adopting modern energy-efficient technologies, and implementing strategic audit mechanisms aimed at developing resilient and future-ready cantonments and military stations. Emphasis was laid on sustainability, cost-effectiveness, and long-term operational efficiency in line with evolving environmental and strategic requirements.
A technical brochure featuring well-researched articles and expert insights on energy optimization and best practices was also released during the seminar, marking a significant knowledge contribution for stakeholders involved in defence infrastructure planning and management.
The seminar underscored the Indian Army’s continued commitment to energy efficiency, sustainability, and technological advancement in strengthening its infrastructure ecosystem.
A massive fire in a densely populated area near #Shillong Military Station gutted over 30 houses and threatened nearby residences. Troops of 101 Area, under the aegis of Eastern Command, acted as first responders and in close coordination with civil administration and the fire department, helped contain the blaze. Swift action ensured safety of lives and property. The Indian Army remains steadfast in its role of Aid To Civil Authority.
