Imphal: Karkinos
Manipur Cancer Institute and Research Centre,organised a one-day awareness and cervical
cancer screening program at Tangkhul Baptist Church in Imphal West District.
The event was a significant step towards raising awareness about early cancer
detection and promoting health initiatives in the Northeastern region of India.
The program witnessed active participation
from the community, with 86 attendees from the church, including women,
students, and other citizens. Karkinos team commenced the event with an
informative awareness session, emphasising the critical importance of early
cancer detection, the benefits of vaccination, and the creation of ABHA
(Ayushman Bharat Health Account) Health IDs.
As part of the event's screening
activities, 22 women living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) were screened for cervical
cancer, a vital step in early detection and prevention. Additionally, 84 ABHA
Health IDs were created free of cost for attendees, including school-going
students, ensuring that individuals have access to essential health services.
Dr. (Prof) GS Moirangthem, Director and CEO of Karkinos
Manipur Cancer Institute and Research Centre, addressed the gathering, shedding light
on the alarming rise in cancer cases both globally and nationally. He
underscored the urgent need for early detection, prevention, and curative
treatment, particularly in the Northeastern region of India, which has been
identified as a cancer hub. Dr. Moirangthem encouraged the community to seek
assistance from Karkinos Healthcare for any health concerns, especially when
noticing early warning signs of cancer. He assured that the Karkinos Manipur
Unit is fully committed to providing comprehensive support and care to those in
need.
Mr. Rajesh Sheth, Resolution Professional at
Karkinos Healthcare, also addressed the gathering, inviting them to visit the
